Hello to all,
I'm a beginner using ansys and i want to ask you about some themes.
I've just finished my first mesh in this day. The mesh i did is about a naca 2D profile using ICEM. Now for a univesity project i have to mesh a formula 3 front wing car, but i think it's too difficult doing it using ICEM.
I've seen some tutorial on youtube when ANSYS workbench is used, and i think is very simple in comparison with ICEM, however i think the mesh obtained is very coarse and doens't approximate very well the boundary layer zone (maybe this tutoriala are too simplified).
I would ask you if this impression is correct or i can use this tool fearless

Thanks for help and sorry for my english

Its always better to use ansys meshing rather than ICEM, saves time + less effort. Some might argue ICEM is more flexible but the time you will invest in learning it is just not worth it in my opinion.

Using ansys meshing you can easily control the inflation layer. How do you know the boundary layer is not simulated correctly?

Take a look at this
HTML Code:
http://www.computationalfluiddynamics.com.au/tips-tricks-turbulence-part-4-reviewing-how-well-you-have-resolved-the-boundary-layer/
. and you can find more tutorials on the ansys customer portal. Get the ansys meshing guide. It is very easy to do with just a few clicks.

There is a car meshing tutorial in the meshing guide which will be useful for you to go through.

thanks for help hwet there are so many programs that sometimes the hardest part is to choose one of them when you are a beginner.

About the boundary layer is an impression i had looking some tutorial on youtube, because in these videos they only made the domain and press for meshing it without setting up some parameters (it seems to easy to be true ), and cells seemed too big in some regions.

You can set the cell size for the whole volume. or a part of the volume.

Also, just to make you aware that link I gave was for external flow, if your flow is internal read the comments and discussion by people below that post to understand better.
