I'm not sure if anybody has encountered this problem but I keep getting this. Probably memory not sufficient? I tried reducing the grid points a lot and yet the problem persists.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Please check the picture attached below.
I generated tetra mesh for my aircraft model and this error pops up while towards the end of creating Prism mesh for my model.
The 2nd pic is what I get after I close the Error message, "Close the Program".
Any help highly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance.
Nikesh

how many layers of prism you are trying to create?

some where icem cfd is creating negative volume. I dont know where.

Did you check the quality of surface mesh? Moreover every part which is going to share the prism mesh, must have similar parameters. for example same no of layers...

A quick check of mesh gives me this~Fig5 below. It doesn't say anything about negative volume though.
While I'm at it, I have one question to ask. In Figs 4 & 6, I have circled in Red, curves where the software automatically generates more nodes than that I had assigned.
I can't seem to figure out why and how to fix it.

Ok. So you are using bottom-up approach!

patch dependent or patch independent? In any case, you must turn on the respect line elements.

If you are going from top-down (octree) approach and want to just re mesh single surface with low quality mesh, use same approach as described earlier. Also update the volume mesh after this step in Edit Mesh Menu....

Yaa bottom-up approach, and with patch independent option.
I want to give the no of grid points on the curves of the aircraft and build up the mesh accordingly but somehow in my case the mesh I've created is not obeying my command. Somewhere my approach did not work.
Any heads up for me??

there are many methods to do it.

But first you must use respect line elements command...

Yes I did that, still not working. Here's how I've done:
Fig1: Model and Computational Domain
Fig2: Global Mesh Parameters Setup
Fig3: Part Mesh Setup
Fig4: Shell Meshing Parameters, Patch independent (I tried patch dependent approach too, it didn't help), Respect Line elements is checked and the rest of the values are default values.
Fig5: Curve Mesh Setup. Here I assigned grid points to each and all the curves. And then copy parameters, etc. etc.
Fig6: Computing Surface Mesh only.
Fig7 & Fig8: Resulting Surface Mesh. The program automatically generates more grid points than I had assigned to the curves. Fig1.jpg

i can notice you have very less no of nodes on surface of airfoil. increase them first. secondly attach your tin files, so i can suggest your more solution options.

I tried increasing my number of grid points but it still generates denser mesh than my computer can handle. I'm completely puzzled and baffled!!!
Would really appreciate it if you took a look into it and suggested me some approaches to generating a good mesh for my case.
Thanks.
Nikesh
