Hi all,

I need to carry out anaysis on APC propeller. The test bed will be causing flow upwards towards the ceiling of the room (3m * 3m) which would be atleast 2 meters higher than the prop plane.

The RPM range for test conditions maybe 3000,7000,8530 RPM. I came across some doubts regarding meshing

1. Do I treat propeller as airfoil?
2. there is a hole at the center of the propeller, how to mesh it?

I'm struck

Any help would be appreciated

1) yes, you can treat the propeller as an airfoil.
2) do you need that hole in the middle for your simulation or can you just ignore it?
You could only mesh one blade and then set up a periodic simulation with the second blade being a copy of the first but turned 180 degrees.
Do you have TurboGrid in your workbench? I use that to mesh my blades.

Thanks for the reply.. I don't need that whole anyway. Do I need to cut that blade into half and treat as a wing??... Please help.

I would suggest you do the TurboGrid tutorials. Then you will know how the 'exportPoints' feature works (Hub, Shroud, Inlet, Outlet lines) and can probably answer your questions yourself
