Hi everyone,

I am new in Ansys Meshing. I need to get hexahedral grid for the geometry shown in the attachments. It is composed by three bodes: a frame, the fill of the frame (created using Add frozen method in Extrude tool) and a external layer (created in the same manner choosing the external sketch of the frame).

I would like to obtain a hexa mesh, but Sweep is not allowed here (one body is not swepable). How can I overcome this situation?

It seems a quite simple geometry and I am sure this will be trivial for a experienced user of Ansys Meshing, can anybody give me a detailed step by step method for obtaining the hexa mesh?

Now with Automatic method I get the grid shown in the images attached.

Thanks in advance!

NOTE: If I set "Shared Topology MEthod" to None, sometimes I obtain a hexa mesh, but I guess it is non-conformal, so later analysis fails...

Slice big box to obtain two bodies like those you already have or try to use multizone mesh method for it.

Hi Antanas and thanks for your fast reply.

Could you please be a bit more detailed? I haven't used the slice tool and I can see that I have 3 different bodies already, so a new split is needed? Where it should be placed?

For example, the choice "Slice by plane" and select the inner face of the bigger box will produce a suitable zone for Multizone method? Do I need more than 0ne slice for my geometry?

I more detailed explanation will be very helpful for a beginner like me

Regards

Slice big box to get two sweepable bodies. See pics.
You don't need to do it for multizone method.
