Hi everyone

I'm trying to mesh a blade on ICEM. I first need to set up peirodic faces.

You can see what my blocking looks like on the pics. The cylinder represents the hub on which the blades are fixed. I'm afraid I can't post a pic of my blades.

If I get it right, the faces I need periodic are indicated on the .pdf but I can't make them periodic... I don't understand which vertices to select.

If my blocking is incorrect, pls let me know.

Could you help me ?

faces on both sides of blade, in the direction of rotation, should be assigned as periodic.

I'm sorry I did not see that you have posted an answer so I posted my thread again !
That's exactly what I want to do but I could'nt select the corretc vertices...
I was advized to create two surfaces on the either side of the blade and then project the surfaces of my cuboid to them... What do you think ?
My blocking would then look like a cake slice.. DO you see what I mean ?

Thankyou for helping me. Best rgds

I'm struggling to understand your blocking, is the cylinder holding one single blade or will there be a few of them around it?

You have to decide if you want a translational or rotational periodicity. If you go to the Tab ''Mesh > Global Mesh Setup > Set Up Periodicity'' You can define the periodicity in function of vector directions (either rotational around an axis with an angle or translational in x,y or z direction). Later on and if needed, you can define a specific Surface/Part of your Geometry as Periodic in the boundary Conditions (Tab Output Mesh > Boundary Conditions) by selection.

If you chose a rotational periodicity, it would be logical to design your blocking as a cake slice around an axis (or in your case, the cylinder).

Hope this will help you!

You are absolutely right. I wanted to have a cake slice-like blocking. I didn't know I had to create a surface and project my blocking's edges onto it. I did that now and I think I'm in the right direction. Thanks you two for helping me out !
