Hi all,
I am trying to import a model from Solidworks into Workbench to mesh and run simulation. Although I have increased the resolution to Max in Solidworks and cirrcular planes are very accurate, the edges (circular edge of Cylindrical shape) is terribly polygonal. As I have interfaces there (two concentric cylinders) the simulation is giving me the error of intersection for interfaces. Edges look perfect in solidworks, but not in designmodeler.

How can I improve the resolution of edges, as manipulating the parameters of intersection and GGI could not fix it.
Thanks

which format are you importing the geometry in?

Thanks for the reply Kapi. I have used Solidworks part file in workbench, and imported to design modelr.

By the way, I have also tested any other format (STEP, PARASOLID, ACIS, STL,...) separately in icemCFD, wherein the geometry has multiple holes on different places which makes it impossible to mesh. Those holes do not exist in Solid model, and only appear by importing into ICEM. That is why I insisted to use workbench meshing tool, although having quite some of experience in ICEM.

i prefer Parasolid format to import geometry in DM.
Suggest you to Name select the geometry in solidworks and then bring them in.
It is possible just the visual edges are not correct but infact they are correct for modelling. Do check that.
When going in mesh, try to give "sizing" function as required to those edges and you should be fine both visually and numerically.

Hi Kapi,
I did as you suggested to name the different surfaces and parts in Solid. Still problem with edges.
It is not only visual, as when I mesh and run the simulation the interfaces do not intersect and the simulation crashes.

Now when I try ICEM, not only the edges are screwed, there are holes no matter what format the model is:

So, I am still stuck!!

And look how good it looks in solid!!

As an update and to thank Kapi:
I solved the problem by specifically giving sizing for the edges as Kapi kindly suggested above
