bounding box in tgrid 3.6.8

Hello,

Colleagues of mine use tgrid 5.x.x to create a rectangular bounding box around a mesh model (stl model) for the computational domain.

However, I'm stuck with tgrid 3.6.8 :). This version lacks the "bounding-box" command.

Is there a way to do the same thing in tgrid 3.6.8? I can create an stl box in another package. But I wouldn't know how to use this to specify the comp. domain.

Regards,
A.

My advice is get TGrid 5! It's sooooo much better than 3.

You just need to bring in a mesh from another package. Nothing special about setting up the computational volume. What are you modelling?

I know :). But I can't get it. My 'colleagues' are actually people from another company using another license.

I'm modelling the flow across a mesh (stl file) I made in another package. I was instructed by my colleagues how to make a bounding box computational domain in Tgrid 5 (this is basically: read in STL and use 'bounding box' function) . But I can't figure out how to do this in 3.6.8 or any of the packages I found on the net.

You can't find anything or don't have anything at your disposal to create a mesh of a box?

:D

GAMBIT? ANSA? ICEM? GRIDGEN? Nothing???

I dunno much about the openfoam meshers but I'm guessing there must be some free software out there which will create and mesh a box for you!! :(

Box for free...

Heck, if you give us the Far field mesh size and the corner coordinates, somoene on CFD Online will probably help you out.

I could generate a quick mesh in just a bit more time than it takes me to type this post and then post it in *.msh format.

Most people use the same tunnel for all their models, so you can just put it in a special place and use it when you need it...
