Default How to split a hollow sphere in special different spaces

Hi,


I want to create grooves in a hollow sphere (please see this thread). As you know, if I want to create 6 groove in this hollow sphere, first, I should create a volume as a groove, secondly I should create 5 copy of this volume of groove via rotation of angle 60 deg (360/6=60 deg) and then, I should split volume of hollow sphere with volumes of these grooves (6 volumes). This process is OK and I have not problem.



But If I want to design thing like to the following picture, How can I design this case in Gambit? In fact, I want to in 0.3 radian (see the picture), distances of C_1 and C_2 apply so that ratio of C_2/C_1 is equal to 3.5 and then I split volume of hollow sphere with volumes of the grooves.






I am grateful that guide me in this case.

Thanks. I try to clarify it for you. My English language is not very good. for this reason, excuse me.


In fact, I want to create ratio of C_2/C_1=3.5 in my design.



C_1= width of groove


C_2=width between two groove


According to the before picture,this design ratio (C_2/C_1) should create in a face that have angle of 17.19 deg with respect to equator. The volumes of groove should be placed on the sphere such that the mentioned value of design ratio (C_2/C_1=3.5) has been set for grooves. then, we can split volume of hollow sphere by volumes of the grooves.


Of course, I forgot say something to you. Angle of groove with respect to equator is equal to 30 deg, as shown in the following picture. This seems to be possible to design it in design but in case ratio of C_2/C_1, I have not any idea.

It is always the same: create basic geometry, then rotate and translate.
For instance, you can start by creating a surface with desired dimensions (inc. C1).
The rectangle should be centered on the center of the sphere (also Origin from coordinate system)
Then rotate the rectangle.

Next Step, is a translation,and finally another rotation

Yes you are right. Note that number of groove is 6. In this condition, how can I apply the dimension of C_2 in my design? I don't understand this case in your guidance.
