General ellipsoidal geometry in Gambit?
Perhaps I'm overlooking something obvious (I hope), but I can't seem to find a simple way (i.e. without resorting to spline surfaces) to obtain the geometry I require in Gambit. Essentially, I need a volume which is a general ellipsoid, that is, one which may in general have different values for the lengths of each of the three semi-axes. It is straightforward to create an ellipsoid with two of the semi-axes of equal length by rotating a half-ellipse, but the general case does not seem so easy. It seems like this shouldn't be too difficult; in any reasonably-designed program, one could simply enter the equation of the surface, but unfortunately, I am forced to work with Gambit. Does anyone know of a simple way to do this? Thanks.
create a 2d ellipse,
delete the surface BUT keep edges
create an edge which will be your revolution axis (you will have to split the ellipse edge --> ratio 0.5).
delete the bottom edges of the half-ellipse
create the surface of the upper side
create volume with revolution around edge (revolve face)
