Hi there!!!
I just wanna make banki water turbine by using FLUENT. But i cannot draw it in GAMBIT easily. I read some option in GAMBIT there are some option to import and export file. My question is HOW TO IMPORT DRAWING FILE FROM ANSYS CFX TO GAMBIT??  i have heard that the drawing in ANSYS CFX is easier than GAMBIT. Thanks For your attention!!! teguhtf |

what kind of cad soft?? is that autoCAD or what?? and what version will be compatible with GAMBIT 2.2.30??

autocad, proe, catia, solidworks, etc...
you don't need any compability with cad software, because you will just import an step / iges file

check in autocad if there is the possibility to export in iges or step file

Hi!!!
I've tried much step to convert GAMBIT to autoCAD or on the contrary!! But it cannot works. Then i use ICEM CFD as mediator to convert it and it works only autoCAD to ICEM CFD & FLUENT mesh to ICEM CFD. I dont know where is my wrongness steps. Could you show me?? Thanks a lot??? teguhtf |

I can't make sense of your post to understand how you are involving ICEM CFD in this but it doesn't matter.
All you need is the model in some CAD tool or where ever you drew it... Then find the option to Export or Export Geometry or something like that (usually under "File" in the top menu bar). If you did it in DesignModeler, you can export it from there too... Export it in an IGES, STEP, ACIS, Parasolid or what ever format you can... Then go over to Gambit and read it in... If you are already in CFX, why not finish the job there? |

I'm sorry if my step is complicated. Well, In this project i use GAMBIT 2.3.30 & FLUENT 6.2.16. I choose them because it needs less computer power than others. But the problem of this software is difficult drawing. i have tried to export and import by using "export and import" option on File in menu bar. but it doesn't work. i use other software to solve my problem.
I hear that ANSYS 11 (especially ICEM CFD) can be collaborated with AUTOCAD. hence, i think i can work on GAMBIT too. And then i use ICEM CFD as mediator to convert my geometry from "AUTOCAD to GAMBIT" Or "GAMBIT to AUTOCAD". I'm sorry if this is basic question!!! Thank you very much for your attention!!! teguhtf |

So you have the model drawn in autocad and then you save it as a DWG or DXF file, read that into ICEM CFD and then export that as an IGES file for reading into Gambit...
Instead, just File => Export (or what ever it takes in AutoCAD) to output an acis (SAT), Step or IGES file (in that order of preference) and then read it directly into Gambit and go from there. ICEM CFD is not helping, it is just another step that further corrupts your data. |
