Import a .iges file

Hi everyone!
I must import a .iges file in my geometry, it is a real geometry of a vessel that i must include in my project.
The problem is that when i import the file I have only the vessel's surface, composed by small faces.
Do you know if and how it is possible to create a volume with this import-file?
Thanks for your help!

are you using gambit?
can you go back to your cad soft and trying to manipulate data or not?
I have few experience with iges, but more with step file.
With step can you either import volume or surface.
anyway, if you only have this iges file, sure you can create a volume with the surfaces.
The surfaces have to be connected (I assume you will have to use the cleaning tool), and your volume has to be closed.
If you don't have gambit, forget what I wrote........

Geometry/Surfaces/Connect
Select All and apply.
I would recommand you to take a look at tutorial "Sedan Geometry - Virtual Cleanup"

Sew

If you mean you are using DesignModeler (please be clear about your tools) then you are looking for the "sew" operation. Do a quick help search for "sew" to get the details.
