Hull geomerty Import

Hi All,

I am able to use CFX to a basic level so sorry if i am not using the correct terminology.

I am trying to model a hull in a free surface in order to study the effect of fitting spray rails.

I have modeled the hull shape in Maxsurf and then imported the geomertry into Rhino to fit the spray rail. The model is then imported into Designmodeler to assign a domin around the hull. I have imported the files as iges.

I'm having real problems meshing using CFX mesh.

Can anyone give me the best process to follow to go about successfully importing the model and being able to mesh and run a simulation.

Many thanks

Baffles?

Are the spray rails zero thickness baffles?

No it is basically a rectangular box section that extends 7m form the bow of the hull.

I am presuming and please correct me if I'm wrong that if is was a zero thickness bafel that it would require some thickness in order to be able to mesh the geometry.

Baffleing

Right, this problem is fixed at 13.0, but at 12.1 and earlier, ANSYS meshing did not handle zero thickness baffles well.

If you had baffles then I could guess that was your problem.

Beyond that, your question is a bit too vague. I guess I could suggest trying the tutorials...
