3-D mesh help!!!

I just learned some basics for 2D meshing. Now, I am getting started with 3D. I got to know how to create volume of the standard shapes like cylinder, brick, etc. Now I was thinking of making a volume out of face. I created a circular domain, with an airfoil in it. Then I copied the face to distance 5 units towards the z-direction. Now I created face to with two lines that connected the two faces at different points. The problem is I couldn't stitch those faces together. can somebody help me out with that? and also, do the stitched face create a volume which can be messed because the inside of the cylinder is hollow and i don't think the volume to be messed should be hollow. Thank you.

sorry. This is about Gambit.

you need to create the volumes first.
I would create the cylinder, then the airfoil-volume.
Finally simply split (or substract) the cylinder with airfoil-volume
