Hello everyone,

I am beginner in ICEM and I do not find any help when I read/saw tutorials on meshing or when I read about similar problems. I just had about 5 sessions 1,5 hours Ansys and then our Prof. gave us a task before he left to China from where he do not respond to questions of me or the other participants of the m.eng. class and he aspects us to solve it until he is back. No other Prof is working on this program in our small university, so no one else to ask and the other students have even less or the same knowledge. I am working now since 1 month just on the mesh:

1. pre-mesh
-looks ok for me, but the mesh has intersections because of missing associations
- when meshed with surface, one surface is just meshed at the side but the rest looks ok, unlike the pre-mesh

2. with associations
-the pre-mesh looks on surfaces perfect and some catastrophic, although the associations seem to be right
- with associations the mesh itself looks twisted like there are wrong associations, but I cannot see or correct them

3. splitting blocks do not seem to improve the quality, although more associations are available

4. ogrid do not seem to improve the quality, because I do not seem to get the associations right if there are too many, although they look ok

The foil itself is heavily twisted causing problems... Please help, I am not working with a plan into a certain direction since some time, because I already tried so much, and now but just testing....I hope the uploaded file give an idea about the problem or the description...

are you working on CFD or FEA?

If CFD, draw a domain around this wing.

The domain already exists, if am right. We got an environment http://www.file-upload.net/download-...nment.tin.html where we have to import the geometry. I did that with a wrong profile so I started again. Before importing it again I wanted to make sure, that I get a suitable mesh. But since I can work on it also if both files are merged I will try this.

I hope this helps....Thanks in advance! ☺

domain around wing does not exist in the file from previous thread.

Simply adopt the strategy for the normal wing mesh. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgjRT4WY_iA

Hello Far,

thanks a lot for the tutorial. It helped great. As you can see from the pictures the premesh looks already ok, but there is one mistake, I cannot get rid of. I do not know where this is coming from....

Does anybody know what I made wrong?

Is there anyone who can tell, why the trailing edge is not suitable meshed?

Never mind, I solved it by using an unstructured tetra which fits itself easier to complicated geometries...
