3d catia models to gambit

I am trying to import a 3D catia model into gambit using .igs or .stp formats.
when I intend to mesh the geometry, I realize that there are a lot of small edge/faces in the geometry; which makes it impossible to generate a suitable mesh.
how can I fix the problem so that I could get proper mesh?

Use merge tools (face and/or edge) and size functions.
STP format should be better than IGS

thanks
stp is sure better than igs.
I see what I can do, but there are a lot of such "broken" parts in the geometry, making it almost impossible to repair all of them manually.
Also, I do not know how to find all of these parts.
anyway, I should thank for your reply.

if you know where your stuffs come from, you can attempt to correct them in CAD, and then reimport the STP file.
Can you post a picture from what give you problem

the CAD model does not show any problems in the native software. I guess it is a problem related to the extension.
