Hi all,

I'm having a problem in that I'm trying to create a conformal mesh in Meshing, and then export as a .msh file to run in Fluent. However, when I try to do the export I get the error message

"The mesh file exporter does not support overlapping geometry in named selections. Please resolve the issue and try again"

Investigating it as suggested, the issue appears to be in the region where I am trying to get the conformal mesh. I've done this by creating a Multibody point in DesignModeler. Reading elsewhere on this forum it seems that it may not be possible to achieve what I want to do by this method. Is there any other way of doing it??

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris

Are you creating the geometry in Ansys DesignModeller also? Can you please create a simpler geometry which also has this issue. Then attach it here.

Svetlana

Hi Svetlana,

Thanks for your reply - I'll see if I can sketch something up that recreates the problem.

Hi Svetlana,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. Please see the attached Workbench file for an example of the problem I'm having.

Thanks,

Chris

vinerm will become famous soon enough
Overlapping names has got nothing to do with the geometric model rather with the names that are given to the boundaries and bodies. Ansys Meshing cannot export a mesh if any boundary (edge in 2D, surface in 3D) or body has been given two names. Just right click on Mesh > Show Overlapping named selections. Modify those named selections so that each body or boundary belongs to only one named selection, and then you can export the mesh.
