Type of Contact for Fluid flows

Hi,

What type of contact should I use in ANSYS Workbench/ design modeler in order to specify a common boundary between two different fluid domain ?

Thanks.

interior-Fluid2-Fluid2

Some other experts may have other suggestions, but I would suggest you just set up Named Selections for each fluid body, plus a named selection for the inlet, outlet, symmetry, etc.

If you have bodies with named selections as Fluid1 and Fluid2, when you get to Fluent, you will also see boundaries for wall-Fluid1, wall-FLuid2, interior-Fluid2-Fluid2, or something like that.

Hi PSYMN

But the issue is that to have a common boundary between two fluid or solid domains, I need to form a new part and imprint faces in Design modeler. Otherwise, when I send it to Fluent, I obtain 2 lines superimposed for the same boundary (not shadow walls), and this prevents a solution.

I was wondering whether you know how to have different parts in Design modeler, but solve them together in Fluent, without combining all parts & imprinting faces etc. This is so that it's easier to mesh in ANSYS Meshing.

Thanks.

To have the parts with conformal mesh, you need to create a multi body part in DM. If you don't want conformal mesh (like a sliding mesh interface or other meshless interface), then you would expect two walls. This then becomes a solver question rather than a mesh setup one.

Ok,

But how will I set up the solver if I have a non-comformal mesh between a solid-fluid part that have a common boundary ?

Basically my problem is to solve a heat transfer problem between a fluid domain and a solid wall ( wall is constructed in Fluent), but I don't know how to set up a common boundary between the two in fluent, without forming a new part i.e. without conformal mesh, and imprinting faces.

Your help is very much appreciated.

Thanks.
