Basic Question - Double Mesh's Cells
 

Hello there,
this is my first post to this wonderful forum (gj guys), so you can assume I am pretty amateur with CFD. I am currently simulating a case in ANSYS FLUENT, but here is my problem. The mesh was already given to me and is about 100.000 tetrahedral cells. What I would like to accomplish is to change the number of cells to double (200.000) or half (50.000) just to see how the converge will change. The problem is that I don't know the way. Should I do it with GAMBIT or TGRID? Is there a good guide/tutorial to follow or a single command in any of these programs for a job like this? Is there a way to change the mesh with the already boundary conditions along with it (maybe immediately with FLUENT)? The PC I am working with has the Intel i7 920, 6GB RAM, and the programs are of these versions FLUENT v.12.0.1, TGRID v.3.4, GAMBIT v.2.4.6, Windows Professional 7 x64.

You will have more control by refining (coarsening) your mesh within Gambit.
If you have the dbs file, just open it, and remesh your surfaces (if your model is 2d) or your volumes (if your model is 3d)
If you don't have the dbs file, you can import the mesh file, but you won't have access to any volume-suface decomposition since Gambit will import one surface(2d)-volume(3d).

Dear Max, first of all thank you very much for you quick reply. Although I would like to ask how is it possible to just double the cells of my mesh without changing the boundary condition? Are the boundary conditions includen in the .mesh or in the .dbs? I don't have the .dbs file! And one last question: Is it possible to do for me to do what I asked for with TGrid?

I assume you can do that with T-Grid, but no idea howRegarding Gambit, just import your mesh, and remesh.
It won't affect the boundary conditions (yes they are included in the .msh file)
