Hi,
I'm trying to mesh a 3d airfoil (it's not exactly a wing) but it doesn't end well. after creating the model in 2d, I swept it and a 3d model was created. the 2d meshing is done well. I did it as told in the link below.
https://confluence.cornell.edu/displ...irfoil-+Step+2
the volume mesh of the 2 cubes in the left was done without any problems but the area around the airfoil itself can not be done. if I choose no scheme and spacing it shows the error in the image below.

it says I have to check the skewness which I did and there was no problem when meshing the faces. about the sizes, I did it with smaller and larger size too, but didn't worh either way.
I also triedmeshing with various schemes which gave different errors.
Help plese!!!

can you zoom on your airfoil

yes, ofcourse. here are 2 pictures that I had already. if you need a picture with more zooming in or from a different view, tell me.
and thank you.

here's the link for the uploaded file.
https://mega.nz/#!M45kjSBQ!ThFgUHWCj...qZUpzxS3Ww4m_o
it's a .RAR file with all the gambit files included. and the airfoil is a NACA0021 in case you need to know.
thanks.

found the problem. have to do the meshing with cooper but it doesn't work with 2 faces connecting to each other with one edge. so the trailing edge should have a small gap and the two half circles of boundary must be connected with two edges that have formed the trailing edge.
now another problem has risen. no matter how I change the interval size for volume mesh, nothing changes. I want to make smaller mesh elements. can anyone help please?!!!

If you are working with cooper, and all your edges are already meshed, then the element size of your volume won't affect the real size element.
Other possibility: you have set a size function

I haven't meshed all the edges. the edges between the main faces and the ones that were sweeped are not meshed. also even if I don't aply the scheme, no matter how much I change the spacing, the element size and amount does not change.
I actually don't know what the size function is.

Sorry but what do you mean by looking at those faces? what do I do with them?

If you check those faces, you will see that they are still meshed.
Then the mesh size in x-direction is fixed (because of those faces)

Oh, I know that. I can already change mesh in x and y directions. I want to change the mesh in the z direction. but it doesn't allow me to do it.

then you need to delete the mesh of your source faces (13;20;Rect1, Circ and so on..)

But I want to keep those face meshes as they are. if I delete them, the program will mesh them with a default mesh, won't it?

wait I mixed x and z direction.
http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ans...tml#post567293 post #13
I was talking about z-direction
So if you delete mesh on faces 11 15 16 18 & 19 , then you will be able to refine your volume mesh in z-direction
