i want to find Cd on the sedan geometry for my thesis,,i use BMW 320i for basic model on the gambit,,and redesign the windshield and back glass the car with the different inclination. I try to folow the steps on the tutorial sedan geometry but still error in creat a virtual volum and meshing volume..
may i know your email address??
i will send my file sedan geometry (gambit)

the virtual volume has been create,,now the problem i am still error meshing virtual volume.
On the transcript list : error meshing volume v-volume 1 aborted due to poor mesh quality. The user may proceed by first remeshing the faces with the poor mesh quality.
volume v-volume 1 could not be meshed without face(s) successfully meshed.
What should i do??

You need to do what gambit says: fixing the poor surface mesh.
you certainly have other warnings regarding surfaces which cannot be meshed successfully. Sometimes Gambit gives the surface ID, where meshing has failed.
So just see how looks the given surface(s)
And fix the problem

try to find why.
Check where are those negative volumes (examine mesh, choose volume in the quality panel)

i want to try find Cd using fluent,,but i am still confuse what should i fill in turbulence specification method, at intensity and lenghth scale (inlet)..
-intensity and viscosity ratio (outlet)
-Reference value : area ....

Hi, i have a quastion that mentioned above too. when i wanna create 3d mesh the error "could not be meshes without faces" has been apeared, would you explain me how solved this problem? i read the last posts but dont undrestand completely what to do

tnx

once volume mesh failed, go to examine mesh, select 2d, and enable worst elements.
Gambit will display the worst 2d-element which should be source of your error message

Dear max
When i want to mesh a volume in my geometry it says: meshing volume 1 aborted due to poor mesh face quality.(skewness >0.97) The user may proceed by first remeshing the faces with poor mesh quality, OR ATTEMPT TO MESH THE VOLUME WITH THE EXISTING FACE MESHES.
Less than 0.02 % of my geometry elements have skewness higher than 0.97
And i want to ignore this low mesh quality and mesh the volume(with these few low quality face meshes)
I dont know how to do it and get rid of the error??
Regards

the best way would to fix the poor surface mesh.
Usually it is a topology issue.
Check where is this poor mesh localized

Tnx for your reply
Yes, thats due to low face mesh quality and i know which faces make the error.but as i mentioned priviously only 2 elements in each 6 face(totally 12 elements) have low mesh quality and these faces are adjacent to another volume and i have to manipulate and change the adjacent volume( which i think it is not worthy to re mesh another volume for only 0.02% of low quality mesh)
I wondered if it is possible to ignore these error and mesh the volume with these faces as the error says: OR ATTEMPT TO MESH THE VOLUME WITH THE EXISTING FACE MESHES.

If Gambit gives you this error AFTER the volume has been meshed, then you can try export it to fluent.
But then it is also possible that the solver doesn't start, especially if the check grid failed.

If Gambit didn't mesh the volume, then you need to fix the poor surface mesh

If you know which face is giving you trouble, try to split it in the area where the bad cells are localized. Then remesh

If you want you can display the bad cells, and we could found a workaround

The error is: meshing volume x aborted .... So gambit couldnt meshthe volume and appearantly i have to modify the face causing the error
( unfortunately my pc is not connected to internet and im typing in my cellphone and i cant attach a picture of my geometry)
Dear max, consider a face adjacent to 2 volumes(i mean this face is for 2 volumes) is it possible to mesh the face independanty for each volume? In this way i dont have to change and manipulate the first volume in order to make it possible to re mesh volume 2

Doing that you will disconnect both volumes, and then you need to create an interface between volumes. The solver will then interpolate results on this couple of faces.
So yes it is possible, but you will have to work on the geometry.
