[ANSYS Meshing] Poor element transitions
 

Hi,

I'm using ANSYS Meshing Application v13 SP2 to make a mesh for FEA. I'm using the Automatic (Patch Comforming/Sweeping) Mesh Method. I have Use Advanced Size Function = OFF.

I have put a Face Sizing on each of the surfaces of the model (see the image). Why doesn't the elements smoothly transition between the small Face Sizings on the side surfaces to the larger Face Sizing on the top surface?

you should not apply face sizing on that top face, you should leave it!
then u you may have the chance to get smoother mesh!!!
what is element size you are giving?

try to apply edge sizing to the top face(apply for all the edges of that top face), it might be worked!

The face sizings which I have applied are:

1 mm for the sides
5 mm for the top
