Hello,
I've a problem with meshing my geometry attatched at link below (one surface is invisible in the figure).
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/69/unledkhi.png/
I would like to mesh two volumes: one is a little cylinder (volume 1), and the second is bigger cylinder with a hole inside (volume 2). I want to use scheme, which names 'Cooper' in Gambit, so it is necessary to mesh for example bottom surface (all quads) and sweep the mesh in normal direction to the end of the geometry (with increasing distance between nodes).
I can't make a block for volume 2, because there is a hole, so the mesh doesn't take into account inner cylinder. How to do this?
I would be grateful for your suggestions.

Regards,
doodek

You can split your lower cylinder with the same hole size in it and then you can proceed with the desired meshing.

Thanks for your reply Sushilkumar.
I don't understand your idea. Could you specify what did you mean by?

You can make the inner cylindrical part extend to the ends and then you have 3 volumes.
two annular ring like volumes and one solid cylinder(for lower part). These three parts can be easily meshed then.

Hope it is clear now.

Ok, but how to mesh cylinder in cylinder with O-grid in both cylinders by blocking? I can create mesh with O-grid structure in bigger cylinder, but in smaller I can't assign O-grid. Could anybody help with this simple problem?

Hi
You can create block on lower cylinder, then create first O-grid, next second O-grid on internal block and then extrude block faces (1,2,3,4) to create blocking on upper cylinder with hole inside.

Thanks for reply. It works.
By the way: I would like to mesh these volumes using surface mesh and extruding. So: firstly bigger at the bottom was meshed (surface with hole), and then this hole (small surface) was meshed also. Next step is extruding mesh from surface with hole and extruding mesh from small surface inside. Visually all looks good, but check mesh procedure shows that in the mesh are missing internal faces. How to fix it?

Hi
In my opinion blocking is the best way to generate hex mesh because you have better control on e.g. node distribution. This is strange because missing internal faces error appears when your meshes are in different parts, and I don’t know how to fix it. I assume that you want to generate Quad Dominant mesh so you will get similar results by changing block types to swept. To do so, go to Blocking->Edit Block->Convert Block Type.
