1. Hi Michal, but how to avoid that bad elements. is there any other way to mesh this? that's why i go for hybrid mesh but still it is not working. i am sending you the hybrid mesh of project. you have to create hybrid mesh because file size is large. load hex mesh from blocking. and just form hybrid mesh and check mesh at inlet. it is bad. please have a look and help me in the same.

2. Hi Broly, i will Try your suggestions. thank you for your help.

Arjun I think that method posted by Broly will be the best way to avoid bad elements.

Hi,
Michal & Broly, it is best method for given geometry. but what to do if geometry is having long cylinder and tangential inlet. see attachment.

is it possible to extrude blocks within remaining areas,
(Cone shape of the cyclone)

BrolY will become famous soon enough
Blocking -> Create Block -> Extrude Face
Then Method : Extrude Along Curve
Then Assign your new edges

And good to go

Hi Broly, Thank you. i know the procedure to extrude the block. my question is regarding quality after extruding the block, i have to associate the remaining two edges (out of eight edges) to curve (arc of cylinder). so quality again decreases. simply i mean that the modifications maid by you are not going to help in this case.

See the attached image.

I think you wont be able to avoid those bad elements.
You can't use anymore the trick I've done in my last project because you need that cylindral shape for the extrude.

I haven't done hybrid mesh with ICEM, but I will have a look

ok thank you so much. but i have one question,
is there any bad effect on analysis of these bad elements?
i will going to use FLUENT for flow distribution and heat transfer analysis.

You should ask this question in the Fluent part of the forum.
I have never used Fluent, so I can't tell you. But from my experience on other CFD codes, it could cause convergence troubles, especially if those elements are located in an area of interest.

HI, Michal & broly,
i am sending my cyclone project. i have made few modifications in geometry at inlet. please go through it. share your views on it. will these modifications affect my analysis.?

Hi
I have never simulate cyclone so I canít tell is that kind of modification affect on simulation results but changes are small so probably impact will be negligible. However, you extruded inlet so if velocity profile is important you have to take it to account.
