Complex 3D Hexa Meshing

Dear All,

I've been trying to develop a fairly automated way of producing a Hex mesh for a quite complex geometry. I'm using Ansys ICEM CFD 13.0 and would like to have a scripted way of filling the space in between Quad surfaces.

I'm starting with a couple of STL files, corresponding to the outer and inner surface of a mouse tibia. The geometry is non-convex and with lots of problematic regions (Figure 1 and 2). The inside surface is depicted in Figure 3.

I would like to ask you for advice on the way to approach this problem.

I managed to create surface Quad meshes, by using the Build Topology tools and then create a All Quad surface mesh with Shrinkwrap. However, some hole appear in some regions (Figure 4).

Hope you can help me in approaching this problem. Thank you for your attention so far.

Andre
