Hello everybody,
I need to mesh a 3D airfoil. I have tried with structured mesh and wish to try it using unstructured mesh. Can anyone please send some links of tutorials for this.

So you have already meshed 3D wing with hexa and now you want to have tetra/prism mesh?

I have tried some crude meshes. When imported in Fluent, i see there exists non positive volume elements..Any guys have any idea of the reason. If not an idea to find the location of such an element..I also found out that, this error exists in both of my structured and unstructured meshes.

i just read that particular thread..It was really helpful..

I have also attached my project for your reference. If you can just check the part where my wing span ends and fluid starts, you will find that mesh at the wing tip is criss crossed. Is the absence of Y blocks the reason for that?? Actually i am hearing Y blocks for the first time. If you can please tell me step by step for creating a y block it will be really helpful!! also kindly check for other possible errors at the interface of wing tip and fluid...

thanks a lot..

Y block is option in Edit block : Edit block >>>>>> Set type and then drop down box select Y-block.

Made some vertex adjustments after Y-block.

You need to follow other steps to create the O-grid in the tip block as you read in this thread http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ans...mesh-wing.html

I am working to produce the youtube video.

sure.

Anyone who has problems in ICEM or gambit (ANSYS meshing coming soon ) can contact me through forum or my email id by specifying the problem clearly and if possible attaching the geometry.I see it as an opportunity/chance to refine my skills.

I am also trying hard to upload the video on youtube so that things can be explained in few words and learned easily.

Hi...
The mesh which you had sent in the zip file also displays "non positive volume element " exists..Just try to scale the mesh to mm and this will be displayed..
any ideas!!!!

I just showed you that how to deal the sharp trailing edge part with Y-blocking. Still more work is needed to get it working.

Hi Far,
I am actually having a tough time eliminating the negative volume..Is it possible for you to give a few tips about common errors..
