I've searched high and low (I hate the ICEM help file) and cannot find out why I cannot assign any boundary for my inflation layer.

What am I missing?

I'm a student and I have been playing around with this for hours. My project is due soon so help asap if you can! Thanks

First off, that is not ICEM CFD. That is ANSYS Meshing.

You have it set to select by Named Selections... It is waiting for you to select a named selection rather than a surface. These are the last branch of your model tree. If you have not created a named selection, I think you could just select the faces directly, but you first need to change that selection method. Optionally, you can create named selections for the surfaces you want to prism...

I will pass along your frustration to the doc team. Maybe they can review this area of the doc to try and make it a little more clear.

I did a quick search of my own in the help (search for "inflation". The first link was an overview and didn't specify how to select the surfaces for inflation. But the second link gave all the details...

I would cut and paste it here, but the page was long and the formatting gets lost so it is hard to read.

I think the step you missed was this one...

3) If you selected the bodies or faces in step 1, go directly to step 4. If not, use either of these methods to scope inflation to the desired bodies or faces:

• In the Details View, set Scoping Method to Geometry Selection, pick the entities in the Geometry window, and click the Geometry field in the Details View to Apply.
• In the Details View, set Scoping Method to Named Selection, and select a Named Selection from the Named Selection drop-down.

I'm surprised you say that is not ICEM... upon using the program it has been titled that, hence how I used it in my search.

I saw that help file actually, and the thing is that it will not allow me to select any geometries or any of my named selections. The dropdown menu is empty, and when I select planes or vertices and click apply... it doesn't take? Thats what has me confused.

Sorry, I am not sure what you mean, either about seeing it called ICEM CFD or Having trouble with that pulldown...

Maybe you have an install issue? Can anyone else comment on these issues?

If you have access to TECH support (just need a valid license which has a customer number near the top or look under help => show customer number...) this may be a good time to escalate this to that level...

I am doing ansys fluent savonius wind turbine analysis, while inflating the mesh I get the warning "Automatic inflation will be ignored on any bodies that contain local scoped inflation controls.
"I wonder what is the reason, thanks in advance.
