I am a Master's student at University of Tripoli. My thesis is about Study of radial thrus force around the impeller in Centrifugal pump and I am new to CFD. Can anyone please help me out with how to design and mesh an impeller in Gambit, or can you suggest some tutorials which will be useful in doing so? I just want to know the procedure of creating an 2d pump.
1-best way (simplist way of meshing) 2-I included the centrifugal pump model which is drown using CFturbo Software Thanks. Last edited by tareqkh; December 24, 2011 at 13:57. Reason: confidential |

Same question here: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ans...s-meshing.html
In your case, from Impeller.dbs, define the edge (out-circle) as interface, and the fluid volume as rotor. From volute.dbs, define the edge (in-circle) as interfaces, and the fluid as stator. Now, export both mesh in fluent, and they should match together (meaning both interfaces are superposed). You just need to define the grid interfaces, by selecting your 2 interfaces. That's it
