Dear,
I have a strange problem with cutcell mesh in Fluent. My question is, does the cutcell mesh should be only evaluate base on the orthogonal quality and no skewness? In Fluent the cutcell mesh appears with vh skewness around 0.98 in some regions but the orthogonal quality is acceptable.

Regards,

TOM

I'd like to hear the answer, too.

It seems as if no matter how much better the cutsell mesh is compared to the ordinary tetrahedron mesh, the skewness criterion is worse and almost 1.

this hapened to me too, but my support told me that don't care of the skewness, but the orthogonal quality should be over 0.2

Yep, found this in the Meshing User's Guide:

"Orthogonal quality, which is the recommended quality criterion for CFD simulations, can be used for all types of meshes including CutCell and polyhedral. Note that the skewness quality criterion is not recommended for CutCell meshes."
