Difference between DesignModeler and ICEM CFD
Hi everybody!! I come from Fluent+Gambit and I am really a beginner in the using of Ansys and CFD in general.
I would like to know what is the difference between this 2 softwares: is designmodeler suitable to create geometry and the other one to mesh it?? Thanks a lot! |
Design modeler is CAD like software, where you can build complex geometries and with other important features necessary (creation of flow domain and symmetry cut on geometry with one click) for CFD modeling. On the other hand ICEM is like GAMBIT, but with high quality meshing capability in very less time.

thank you so much for answering!!! so, considering i am a beginner, do you think that icem CFD is enough for me??
And for meshing my geometry shell I use icem cfd as well? |
shall sorry =)

You can even build your geometry in ICEM, if it is not too complicated. ICEM is good choice for meshing very complex geometries with high quality meshes

Far is very right. if you are new then do work on Ansys Workbench. Modal your geometry in DesignModeler and Mesh it in either Ansys Meshing or ICEM.
