Hi Guys,

I am new to Ansys and have probably a very basic question.

I am attempting to run a 2D CFX simulation through workbench. I Have created the geometry and used ansys meshing to do a quick mesh. Now when I try open up CFX-Pre I get an error message "ERROR: In analysis 'Flow Analysis 1': No domains have been defined." and the mesh will not open.

I am confused because I know how to define a domain in CFX pre when the mesh imports however without it importing how am I meant to define domains?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, although I have used the 3D mesh, I have the same problem as above. "ERROR: In analysis 'Flow Analysis 1': No domains have been defined." and the mesh will not open."
Any help will be appreciated!

Hi
Is your problem already solved? I have the same problem as you, although I used the 3D mesh.
Thanks in advance

define each part of your geometry in your CFX
Create domains for each part and give thr initial condition.
Also create any interface if needed

Hi Kapi
Thanks a lot for your kindly respond. I have already made my geometry by DesignModeler. I could not really understand your point. Do you want me to make my geometry by CFX itself? If yes so, how can I do so?
Do you know any CFX manual to explain how to make geometry and mesh and how to proceed the model and get the results? Thanks in advance

I think Kapi meant, that you should name properly all your domains and parts in CFX-Pre so that there's no part left with the name "default".
For each domain, e.g. inlet tube, you can specify initial parameters such as velocity.
The definition of interfaces in Pre should also be complete and proper.

Thanks Maxim for your kindly respond. The problem I have now is that when I try to open up CFX-Pre I get an error message "ERROR: In analysis 'Flow Analysis 1': No domains have been defined." and the mesh will not open. Therefore how can I define domain in CFX pre when my mesh do not even open in CFX pre? Thanks again

may i suggest you to save your mesh file (*.msh) in your local drive.
Open CFX and import the mesh file in CFX, let me know if it works.

Which version of CFX are you using?

Cheers

Dear Kapi
Thanks a lot for your kindly help. Yes, it works.
Also the following thread http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/cfx...n-defined.html had the same problem.

I am using the version of 14.5.

Thanks again

Hello,
I am applying the boundary conditions on CFX, so how can I write a CEL expression for having a non-linear heat flux (as a wall boundary condition) depending on both time and temperature? Is there any example to show how to do so? Thanks in advance and Happy new year
