Deleted elements after smoothing.

hello erveryone,
I am meshing a 180 deg volume around a wind turbine blade with Tetra Details: -Octree -Edge criterion: 0.02 -Curvature/Proxmity Based Refinement: 0.01 -Build topology tolerance: 0.0001 All curves are red. Scale factor:1 Max element: 10 Curve mesh setup: 0 The problem is that after the mesh is generated, I go through with some smoothing steps and elements near inlet/farfield and outlet/farfield boundaries get deleted, not really sure why (see pics). I did notice that Mesh Lines have some gaps (See pics again) Can anyone help me on this? I am not really familiar on reparing meshes. http://i.imgur.com/LRJ8k.jpg |

when you smooth your mesh, there are some options in the list.i don't konw whether you have noticed that.you can choose one option to smooth some kinds of mesh and at the same time free or float the other. maybe you can try this. |

yes your suggestion helped me, also i decided not to go over quality value of 0.2 making the whole actual mesh better I believe. Also running Build Mesh topology before smoothing seemed to repair many mistakes. cheers |
There is an option under smoothing to "coarsen". This option will merge nodes (which collapses elements) in order to improve quality...
But lets take a step back and look at your model. It looks like you have partial curves, which is why your model is crumbling in places. Perhaps it is a faceted model and you did not build topo with a low enough angle... Also, there were lots of sliver elements that needed merging in the first place, perhaps all those faceted curve segements have points between them that are causing you troubles? I can't really tell from your pics... |
