mahi007 is an unknown quantity at this point
Hello everyone

I am facing some problem in mesh refinement in ICEM CFD. Mesh can be obtained from

http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ans...linders-3.html

The problem is when I try to refine one edge all parallel edges getting refined. ALso when I try refining blocks, FLUENT is not reading the mesh file.

Please provide me some solution to this.

Thanks in advance

The fact that you mention "parallel" edges suggests that you have a swept or hexa mesh... and also that you almost already knew what was wrong when you typed that.

If you have a certain number of structured hexa or swept elements and adjust it, it must have the same number on all parallel edges or it wouldn't be able to have a hexa or swept mesh.

This was an old post, but if you still need clarification, let me know and I will try again.

The problem is: fluent doesn't allow the 2:1 refinement done in ICEM. However refinment in 3d has no issues.

Right, and just for the record, that 2 to 1 problem (2D coupled nodes) issue has been fixed for R14.5; thanks to a CFD-Online thread from a few months back that reported the problem...
