hello everyone, i am new at icem cfd and i have a coolant channel geometry as hexagonal and it included a cylindrical hole, coolant flow around this cylinder, and along this coolant channel there are 6 small solid structure, First of all i start by o grid splitting then i split block around these small solid,i delete all other blocks because there is a 120 degree symetry if i complete one part then i can copy to other part, But i cant properly block around small solids, Can anybody suggest a strategy for blocking? I appreciate all your help in advance, THANKS

Inner cylinder is solid or Fluid is going through this region as well. See pic

yes its region is solid ,and other six small pieces [SG1,SG2,SG3,SG4,SG5,SG6] are also solid,
Fluid flow around this solid cylinder as through hexagonal channel.

fluid enter the channel from bottom of hexagonal channel, and cylinder surface is heated wall, and hexagonal channel side 6 walls are symetry condition

These curves are necessary? Topology can be simplified If we can delete them

Sorry i forgot to mention that i haven't done the bunching properly. You can do the bunching according to your requirement.

I have used combination of top-down and bottom up approaches. Top-down for the main blocking and bottom-up for final touches.

On other side still I have to use the extrude along curve the to finalize the blocking. Then you need to associate the newly created edges and specify edge mesh parameters.

I am trying to record the whole procedure to upload on the youtube.

PS. Could some body illustrate that how to completely block this geometry with only top-down approach.

@fatihsinan: where do the association-problems appear? After what operations/ in which situation?

Thanks , Far ,jeevankumarb and despaired student

Did you mean the exactly same strategy by jeevankumarb and later by myself? Since I made use of top-down and bottom up and really want to know if this can be possible fully with top-down approach.

Yes it is possible with top down aproach. But it will take more time then the Bottom up approach. Ultimately you have to decide which is the best approach and which will reduce the time and effort. For this case i think the Bottom up approach is the ideal one.

Right. Could you please comment that my approach is also similar to yours? I used mix of both approaches. Top-bottom for main blocking and bottom-up for three (3 * 2 = 6) small solid pieces.
