Simulating reciprocating motion in Maxwell.

I've recently got a hold of Maxwell and I've been trying to simulate a setup that has a periodic reciprocating motion in it but I'm getting nowhere.

I've assigned the band region and object to be moved and setup up a load force that looks like load= sgn(-position)*Force, in other words a typical spring force. I've seen the use of the position variable elsewhere so thought it would work but the load force always returns 0. Is it even possible to have a reciprocating motion?
