Mesh file size larger than case file size

I made a mesh, file size was 600Mo. When writing the case, the size dropped down to 400Mo. Is it normal. does somebody knows the way it works ?

This could be a result of the file compression, which (in my opinion) is done when results are stored to save disk space.
