I'm trying to model an ultrasonic atomiser. As I'm new to ansys it is proving difficult. The atomiser is a ring of pzt attached to a ring of steel. The pzt is operated at its resonant frequency and the steel acts like a spring. The model is created/meshed and the pzt and steel data are ok. The current problem I have is that I don't know how to add a pilot node, so when I do a modal analysis the reference point for the vibration is the edge of the atomiser rather than its centre. I'm currently using Mechanical APDL but can switch to workbench. What should I do?
I've switched to workbench, the gui is more user friendly and it has a point mass option. However... how do I select a piezo/electroelastic analysis? I've used a named section to add the pzt as solid 227. But it defaults to a thermal and piezo analysis. Thanks, Ant.
