3D structured mesh
I am trying to create a mesh for a rectangular 3D domain. The velocity inlet will be directly in the centre of the domain and this is the area where the mesh will need to be a lot finer.
I have tried a number of ways but had no joy.
When i open FLUENT there is no boundary condition for velocity inlet although i do specify this in mesh interface. I also tried to create an enclosure however this didnt work, im assuming this is not possible!?
I am using ANSYS mesh. Its a simple problem of air flow into the domain. The thiner grid in the centre is required as this is where the air will flow.
I would appreciate if anyone had any tips on how to create this.
some weeks ago i made this video to show a problem i had with boundary conditions not being recognizable in fluent. i turned out it was impossible to declare a curve as a boundary condition in 3d. Anyway, in this video, i used structured mesh on a cube, i suppose it's same as what you want. i hope it can help

I managed to eventually get the boundary conditions working.
I was wondering if you could suggest the best method to use when meshing a 3D rectangular shape. The Inlet will be directly in the middle of the bottom face. This is where i wish to have a finer mesh.
In 2D i tried the edge sizing then mapped the face which provided a good structured grid. However this does not seem to work in 3D. Do you have an idea why this is? No errors show just the generate mesh sign is still present.
Or if you could suggest any method to mesh this prism i would much appreciate it.
