Ansys 14 on Ubuntu 12.04

Hy all,
i have installed Ansys 14 on Ubuntu 12.04 precise 64 bit.
I had no problem with installation, but i can not complete the procedure for the correct specification of the license file. In few words, when i indicate the license file, the license manager returns the message that the FLEXID in the license file does not correspond to the one of the system. Indeed, when i visualize the FLEXID by means of the license manager utility i find a series of zeros. According to my experience, this is might be caused by the LSM package, but i have it installed on my machine.
May be the cause of this problem the installastion directory? I installed Ansys into my home directory, not into the default directory /usr.
Morevover, may be the cause the libXm.so library? I do not have it: how can i install it?

Many many questions....I hope in your support! :)

Anyone can help me?

did you use -no root commant on starting of the ANSYS.

As I know ANSYS require to setup in /usr

I try to open the license manager both as root and stardard user: in any case, i always get a serie of zero when i visualize the machine hostid of my pc, via the license manager.
This is a critical issue because the licecense manager does not recognize the host id in the license file: so can not open any program of Ansys Workbench.

Anyway, thanks for answering! :)

you have to use

sudo ./INSTALL -noroot

command to install the ANSYS. After you will use LM.

Can you explain me in some details the installinf procedure?
Which commands i have to use ? I know i must be root during installation of Ansys and License Manager; the i change the ownership of the various ansys folders.

My problem is: FLELXlm does non start.....

Anyway, thaks for your previous answers!

Hola Mariano,

I think you should repeat the whole intallation process like somebody said: sudo ./INSTALL -noroot

You can't start FLELXlm because it wasn't probably properly installed.

Try it again and let us know what happens. Ansys is only tested to work in Suse and Red Hat teorically, but I am planning to install it in Ubuntu too. ;)

By the way Ubuntu 12.10 came out yesterday. I am planning to install it in some days, and ansys on it.

I have just tried to install ansys and license manager with the command suugested by you, but the problems still persists.

Meanwhile i found a problem with flexlm: probably the flexid of my pc is not recognized because the installation of flexlm, during ansys installation, has not been completed properly....I don't know how to solve the problem!!
