Hey guys,
I am modelling a gas water heater in ansys. the problem i am facing is that i am unable to assign my water region to be initially been filled with water so that when my hot flue gases flow through the vent it heats the water. i can only assign mass flow rate to water inlet rather than assign the water cell zone being filled with water.
Kindly please help

At "Solution Initialization" after initializing click on the "Patch..." button. Here you can set the volume fraction of the water phase to "1" in the relevant zones.

the option of volume of fraction comes when i use multiphase but my model is not a multiphase problem instead 2 fluids separated by a wall

Firstly select the relevant phase in the small drop-down-menu on the left. It is set to "mixture" by default, but of course you can not set the volume fraction of the mixture.

Ahh ok, you don't have a multiphase problem, but two different cell zones with different fluids?

yeah that is right. one of the cell zone which is water is filled at start. the second zone is of flue gases which heats the water. how do i set my water cell zone as filled with water at initial stage

I never did that but under "Cell Zone Conditions" -> "Edit" you chose the material of each zone. Isn't that sufficient?

that assigns the zone with a particular fluid but it doesn't fill it with one..just provide the zone with those fluid properties.

But a cell zone with just one fluid is always completely filled with just that fluid.
