Hello CFD Online,

I've recently tried to upgrade from an older Ansys Workbench release to Ansys 15.0 for my Ubuntu 14.04 LTS based workstation. All I really need is to be able to inspect and modify meshes using ICEM and sometimes post-process or visual results on CFD-Post. Unfortunately, I've only ever had a functional Ansys install on an Ubuntu 12.04 LTS distribution and ever since I've upgraded I've been unable to get this to work.

The installation was performed as root user and then I updated the bashrc file with the PATH for the icemcfd and fluent launchers. Fluent seems to launch from the terminal however, launching icemcfd led to the following error message -

bash: /usr/ansys_inc/v150/icemcfd/linux64_amd/bin/icemcfd: /bin/csh: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

I know this isn't a problem with the PATH I supplied on the bash file since it gives the same error message when launched from the installation directory itself.

Has anyone tried to install and run ansys on Ubuntu 14.04 before? I would really appreciate any assistance or guidance on this matter and I understand that this is not an officially supported distribution.

Thanks

OK I've solved the problem now -

Just had to install the cshell using apt-get install csh

Hope that helps anyone else stuck with this error.

Thanks

I assume that you have installed the latest update service pack - 15.0.7. If this is the case, please use fluent launcher and then choose the release 15.0.7 instead of 15.0.0, then your problem will be solved.

You can directly go to the installation folder ANSYS_Inc

Then V18/Framework

Right click here: open terminal

./runwb2

try this

Hello all,
Just updated from 14.5 to 16.2 on Linux with following specs:

cat /etc/os-release
NAME="Ubuntu"
VERSION="12.04.5 LTS, Precise Pangolin"
ID=ubuntu
ID_LIKE=debian
PRETTY_NAME="Ubuntu precise (12.04.5 LTS)"
VERSION_ID="12.04"

The problem is when I start fluent as serial it starts and no problem.
However when in parallel the following error comes up:

Error: eval: unassigned variable
Error Object: rp-3d?

version>

14.5 version did not have any problems. It look like there is some library missing.
Would be very grateful to those who know how to deal with it. Dont want to reinstall the whole system.
Thanks!
