Hi all,
I could not find any way to obtain the individual forces acting on particles directly from the results available in FLUENT. Thus, I tried to calculate them according to the formula used by fluent to account for different forces in the force balance equation. In my problem all the additional forces are neglected and only drag and gravity are there. My focus is on the drag force. The parameters I should use are confusing.
Drag force=FD*(uf-up)
FD=18*mu*CD*REp/(rhop*dp*dp*24)
CD=a1+(a2/Rep)+(a3/Rep^2)
Rep=rhof*dp*|up-uf|/mu

My problem consists in a gas-solid flow in a junction. the gas flow splits in the junction and some particles go into the branch of the junction. When the branch is upwardly directed I can see that no particles follow the gas flow which means that in the vertical direction drag is lower than the gravitational effect. I could not obtain this when I tried to plot individual forces to check which one is dominant.

Is it possible to get these forces directly from fluent? if not how to make sure which variables are used by the code? I am using FLUENT15. The particle velocity componenets are available. My flow is turbulent, so I guess FLUENT includes the fluctuating velocities in the force balance.

Thank you in advance
