Is there a meshing tool within the Ansys Fluent software
Hello Friends,
Can we create meshes using Ansys Fluent software. If we can create meshes with the Ansys Fluent, can any one help me how to do that? Or for meshing in general, do we need additional software ? Any help in this regard is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance! |
Hello,
Fluent itself comes not with a own mesher. In the old days one created the mesh e.g. in Gambit. Since Fluent is integrated into the Workbench Ansys promotes the use of the mesher that comes with the WB. Hope this answers your question! :-) |

Thanks Philip, Still in confusion. I have Ansys Fluent 12.1 installed in my system, but it does not show any meshing panel such as in Gambit, to create a mesh like any other meshing software. So, my question is whether Ansys Fluent has its own meshing software embedded in it or its an additional one which does not come with this and may come with other Ansys softwares. |
Hi!
No, there is no mesher integrated in Fluent (and has never been). Gambit is a completely independent piece of software. The alternative that is replacing Gambit, ANSYS-MESH(?), is integrated in the Ansys workbench. In either case you will need a special license to run the mesher. With the ANSYS-Fluent license alone you cannot run them. BR, phiBe |

ANSYS Meshing
Actually, ANSYS Meshing comes with ANSYS Fluent just as Gambit came with stand alone Fluent.
Yes, it is a separate window, but so was Gambit. If you have questions about ANSYS Meshing, or that sort of thing, you can come over to the ANSYS Meshing users forum. Simon |
