visual fortran runtime error

hey,
An error message isreally troubling me. I am using ansys 12.1.
Whenever I start an structural transient simulation after several loadsteps this error message occures:

visual fortran runtime error

forrtl: severe (38): error during write, unit 70,

does anybody knows this problem?
some help would be great!!!!

thanks so far

I face almost the same problem.
After some time steps i get the message:
Fortran Run Time Error
forrtl severe (47): write to readonly file, unit 53 C:\...destination....\file.DO3

The strange thing is that only sometimes i face this problem! Other times, the same exactly process will be done without problems.

I would be really grateful for your help,
Creas

Hi,
I'm not completely sure if I got a solution to the problem, but after I increased my virtual memory to the recommended value, the error message never came up again.

A second possibility is to split the calculation into parts and restart the next part from the former one; e.g.: first part from LoadStep 1-10, second one from LS 11-20. You can find a manual to this process in the manual under "Restarting an analysis"

I hope that helps.
Let me know.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply.
Can you please tell me if this increase of the virtual memory is safe?
Should i change it back to the normal when i finish with my Ansys work or leave it like this?

Thank you in advance

sorry for the late answer... busy time!

I think it is safe. The virtual memory is nothing to bother about. Anyway... switch it to the recommendet value (1,5 or 2 times the RAM) and keep it like this.

oh... by the way... did the increasing help?

sorry for my late answer too...

I didnt try it but i am sure that it will work.

I moved in a "Monster PC" so i made all my analysis there, thats why i didnt check the solution to my home "Tin Laptop'. :)

Thanks for everything
