2d VAWT simulation

Hello,

Can any on tell me the step to simulate an 2d vawt in a tunnel. The main problem that i am facing is creating a rotating mesh around the blades.

hi,

Try Moving Reference Frame first. You can shift to Sliding Mesh from Moving Reference Frame once you get a converged solution with Moving Reference Frame.

Cheers

hi..

I am also doing vawt simulation by CFX,
For turbulence model, I am trying to use SST-transition,
I meshed the rotor domain by using CFX mesh and setting y+ equal to 1,
what do you guys think about the mesh, is it too coarse??

doesn't seem too coarse. Maybe transition from boundary layer to "open field" is a bit quick.... but if you results are ok so there's no problem :)

3D vertical axis wind turbine

Hi all, i hope that you are well
i wanna simulate 3D VAWT. i did 2d of this subject with GGI interface between rotational and nonrotational parts with icoDymFOAM solver.it is done successfully.
now, i wanna simulate 3d VAWT, but my experience a bout 3d simulation in OpenFOAM is very low.have you any documention that help me how do it or would you tell me how perform it?

Have Fun

i solved it, tortia. just needed to create 3d interface that cover the rotational part of your problem:)
now, my question is how to create rotation for each blade, on the other hand, i wanna every blade rotates around its axis as rotate centered around:confused:
can every one guide me how do it
tnx
