Advice on Simulation Set-up

Good Day Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone can give me some advice on how to model a particular conjugate heat transfer problem. I've attached a paint image of the basic geometry but keep in mind, the actual geometry is in 3D with no real symmetry plane. Both sides of this completely sealed device are covered in fins and eventually I want to be able to evaluate fin design vs internal temperatures.

Electronic components generating heat are mounted on a pedestal connected to the exterior casing. How can I use ANSYS to solve for conduction to the outside case and internal circulation? I realize its a CHT, but I can't figure out how to adapt when natural convection is present.

Eventually I want to use the directional heat flux/temperatures of the outside case to evaluate the outer fins in a natural convection external flow. How can most easily use the output from one analysis as an input to another analysis?

Any discussion or help would be greatly appreciated.

I am assuming that you do not have access to fluent or CFX. Is that correct?

I have CFX and have become familiar with it through countless tutorials including the heating coil example. I just am not sure it has the capability to do what I wish and wonder if a coupled ansys-thermal/cfx is the way to go, and of course I have no experience with that. Also have Fluent but find it more difficult to use...

CFX can do CHT problems. Mesh everything together and in CFX pre set the solid domains to solid. Look in the CFX manual for CHT you should find a tutorial. If you can't send me another email and I will give some more guidance.

Thanks Derek, that's the approach I'm chasing now.

I'm just trying to get my mesh reasonable so that I can run into my future problems. I know I'll have trouble setting up the domains, knowing I might have you to ask is a stress reliever, thank you.
