Best Mesh Generation Software

Posted December 1, 2012 at 06:59 by Far

Rule of thumb:

1. Use the mesh generator which is being used by your friends who are available to help you out.

2.Best sotware in market is ICEM (Hexa), but it is difficult to learn and takes alot time in mastering. Its tetra + prism version is very efficient and easy to use.

3. Ansys meshing is new technology and very easy to use.

4. Gambit is very easy to learn and its tetra with boundary layer (in 3d implementing boundary layer often...

Average static Pressure and uniform static pressure

Posted November 8, 2012 at 04:52 by Far

What is the physical significance of both options. When to use static pressure (fixed every where) and when to use the Average static pressure(floating with average constrained)?

In my opinion static pressure condition may be the good for the boundary far away from the object to be studied, in other words flow is more or less uniform at outlet boundary.
On the other hand the average static pressure may be more physically correct as it allows the conditions to vary along the...

Radial Turbomachinery meshing in ICEM

Posted June 2, 2012 at 05:44 by Far

In this thread, I have discussed different issues in meshing and geomtry importe related to radial turbochinary. Geomtry and blocking is also posted here. Feel free to use geomtry and blocking and let me know if you have any diffciultly to handle these type of geometries.

CFX or Fluent for Turbo machinery ?

Posted May 27, 2011 at 03:03 by Far

First I would like to say that both flow solvers tend to provide the similar results if the mesh is of good quality and has appropriate no.of nodes and yplus values.

Therfore the first and the most important rule is to make, in any simulation of turbo machinery in particular and external flows in general, high quality mesh with all appropriate parameters e.g. yplus.

Now lets come to the difference

1. CFX has good turbulence models, although after merger...
