Default Hints on adaptive mesh refinement

Hallo everybody

I have a question regarding procedures for mesh generation in 3d-geometries. I would very much like to use the adaptive grid refinement method in Star-CD. But what should I choose (gradient, error or residual)? What I am particular interested in is the wall shear force in a bounded flow, so I should also have a good main flow mesh.

Hope some can give me their strategy for mesh generation/refiment so I can gain some experinece from others.

Regards

Bo
