Hi,

Since I am just starting to use Star-CD, I would very much like to know how the turbulent boundary condition are applied in Star.

Ex. simple case: I have a 2d channel with a square cylinder in the middle of the channel.

-------------------------------

----

Inlet -> | | Outlet ->

----

-------------------------------

Since the inlet and outlet are easy to specify and also the top and bottom walls of the channel (= no-slip). (implicitly)

But what about the square cylinder in the middle of the channel ? The grid in the channel was generated using the simple a block geometry with a uniform grid. And the cells within the square cylinder was then deleted from the cell set.

Does I also have to put no-slip wall definitions onto the square cylinder walls or are these wall defined the same way as the walls of the channel ???

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Roued

Any unspecified boundary is automatically assigned to region 0, which is by default a no-slip wall.

As your case is 2D, don't forget the symmetry boundaries on the sides.
