temporary files won't go to $TMPDIR
I set and exported enviroment variable TMPDIR to be $HOME/.StarCD/tmp and created the directory, but all temporary files did never go to the directory. Instead, they always go to the directory currently working within! This is annoying sometimes. Why is this?
I use v3150. Thanks, Jiaying |

Re: temporary files won't go to $TMPDIR
$TMPDIR (and $RAMFILES) don't control all temporary files, only the very large one which STAR creates. PROSTAR temporary files, and STAR's smaller files, are written to wherever the OS directs them.

Re: temporary files won't go to $TMPDIR
Thanks, Richard. but anyway to tell the OS to re-direct them to somewhere else then? Jiaying

Re: temporary files won't go to $TMPDIR
As far as I know this is out of your control, except for some platforms where $TMPDIR is also understood by the OS.
