Low Re model

Hi!

For my case the Re number is 974. Can I apply the low Re turbulence model?

Thanks,

Julie

Re: Low Re model

Hello,

To use a low-Re model, you must have a y+ ~ 1 for the near-wall cell. y+ is a local Re number near the wall.

With Re number, you could decide if you could use a model of turbulence. And after that, following your mesh, you could decide to use a low or a high Re model. You could read that in the methodology guide of Star-CD.

Re: Low Re model

As it may be obvious from the answer above, the global Reynolds number of a flow has nothing to do with the Low-Reynolds number turbulence models. The low-Re number name comes from the y+ value (local Re number) which has to be set to close to one.
